Do we follow father Abraham's example?

When we talk about the subject of tithing, we think of father Abraham in the bible.  The reason why we think of Abraham in the context of tithing and offering, is because Abraham is the first place in the bible where the word specifically tithe was used.  We know that others practiced tithing before Abraham, but Abraham's mention in conjunction with the word tithe is the first occurrence where the word is used.  It says in Genesis 14:18-20 (NKJV) “18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. 19 And he blessed him and said: “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; 20 And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tithe of all.”  If we will fast forward to the New Testament, it says in Romans 4:16 (NKJV) “16 Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all”  So we see through our faith in Jesus Christ redemptive work, that Abraham becomes our spiritual father or a pattern for us in the earth.  So if we were to ask father Abraham about tithing and offering, what do you think he would share with us?
