We are joint heirs with Christ

If we have received Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, then we are joint heirs with Christ.  It says in Romans 8:17 "and if children, then heirs - heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ,..."  As a joint heir with Christ we have to ask ourselves, how do we conduct ourselves?  Do we walk after the spirit or do we walk after the flesh?  If we walk after the flesh and only concern ourselves with that which is natural, that will put us on a path to decline in our life and separation from God.  But we as Children of God we walk after the Spirit. This puts us on a different path.  A path that leads to life and life more abundantly.

We can enter into rest

It doesn't matter what we are going through in our life.  It could be the transfer of a loved one into eternity.  It would be a situation in marriage.  It could be a job or business matter.  It could be a matter of health.  No matter what the situation is in our life, we know that we can respond to it in faith.  When we release our faith over a matter then we can also enter into rest.  It is through our faith that we can enter into this super-natural rest.  A rest that is provided by the Grace of God.  It says in Mark 4:35-40 (NKJV) “35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” “39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?””  So see it is through faith and the love of God that we drive out rest enemy, fear.

How can you tell what lives in a person's heart?

Our Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus are very wise.  If you want to know true wisdom, you have to spend time with the Holy Spirit.  He is the truth revealer.  He will give us all of the wisdom that we need.  The Lord Jesus provided an answer to our question of "How can you tell what lives in a person's heart?".  It is recorded in Matthew 12:33-34, which says, "33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. 34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”"  So if we are trying to evaluate what's in the heart of a person, we can first evaluate what dominates their conversation with you.  What someone has in abundance in their heart is going to come out.  Secondly, we can observe their behavior.  You see the behavior of a person is the true revealer of that person.

Faithfulness increased the favor of God in Joseph's life

Faithfulness was the key to Joseph success.  Even though he was sold into slavery by his brothers and then falsely accused by his bosses wife and imprisoned.  Joseph always kept his heart clear of bitterness and kept a good attitude.  He always remained faithful.  After he was sold into slavery, this bible text accounts for what happened to him by the person who bought him.  It says in Genesis 39:2-5 (NKJV) "2 The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. 3 And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand. 4 So Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him. Then he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had he put under his authority. 5 So it was, from the time that he had made him overseer of his house and all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was on all that he had in the house and in the field."
