Why are the parables of Jesus so important?

We know that any teaching of the Lord Jesus is very important.  But why are the parables of Jesus so important?  It says in Matthew 13:34-35 (NKJV) “34 All these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them, 35 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:  “I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things kept secret from the foundation of the world.””  You see when we had the Savior of the world here on earth, he shared things that were secret up until he revealed them to his people and mankind.  So the parables of Jesus are very important to study because they reveal secrets that were hidden up until the time the Lord Jesus revealed them.  They are still hidden to those who do not seek him and strive to understand Jesus teachings.

God wants us healed and well

Our Heavenly Father wants us to walk in the fullness of his blessing.  The fullness of his blessing includes divine healing.  There were 5 different illnesses described in the New Testament (NT) that were dealt with and healed.  The first is what we would describe as a terminal illness.  In other words, people were healed of a terminal disease like cancer.  People were also healed from diseases that would cripple you.  An example of a crippling disease might be rheumatoid arthritis.  People were also healed from diseases that oppressed them mentally or mentally confused them.  Today we might call this mental illness.  The fourth type of disease that people were delivered from in the NT were plagues or diseases that reoccur again and again.  The last type of disease that people were healed from in the NT of the bible is the type of illness that leaves you unconscious.  In other words, you are so sick that you loose consciousness.  The Lord Jesus provided us access to complete healing through what he bore on the cross.  On the cross he bore every sickness and disease so that we don't have to.  As we renew our mind in divine healing, remember, there were two methods by which people were healed.  Once they received their healing it was either miraculous and instantaneous, or it was progressive and took place over time.  God is still in the healing business.

Do we allow ourselves to be led by the Holy Spirit?

It says in Galatians 5:16-25 (CEB) “16 I say be guided by the Spirit and you won’t carry out your selfish desires. 17 A person’s selfish desires are set against the Spirit, and the Spirit is set against one’s selfish desires. They are opposed to each other, so you shouldn’t do whatever you want to do. 18 But if you are being led by the Spirit, you aren’t under the Law. 19 The actions that are produced by selfish motives are obvious, since they include sexual immorality, moral corruption, doing whatever feels good, 20 idolatry, drug use and casting spells, hate, fighting, obsession, losing your temper, competitive opposition, conflict, selfishness, group rivalry, 21 jealousy, drunkenness, partying, and other things like that. I warn you as I have already warned you, that those who do these kinds of things won’t inherit God’s kingdom. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against things like this. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified self with its passions and its desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let’s follow the Spirit.”

God rejoices when righteousness prevails

It says in Romans 1: (NLT) "21 Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. 22 Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. 23 And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. 25 They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. 26 That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. 27 And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved."

Want to experience more of God's peace in your home?

If we want to experience more of God's presence in our home, then we want to experience more of God's grace in our life.  In other words, if we have more of God's grace then we will have more of his presence.  In order for us to experience more of God's grace in our home then we will want to make sure that we make efforts to operate in harmony as a family.  It says in Philippians 2: “1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. 5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,”.  If we will let the mind of Christ rule our hearts and minds, then we will experience more of God' grace, presence and will manifest more of God's peace in our homes.
